What is Pfizer?
PFIZER is not the name of an individual pill or ampoule, but the name of one of the largest international pharmaceutical companies, founded in 1849 in the USA. Under this brand, prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vaccines, biotechnological (biological) products, and sterile injectable solutions are manufactured. The manufacturer's portfolio covers dozens of pharmacological groups: antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic drugs, cardiology drugs, oncology and immunosuppressive medicines, treatments for pain, urological, and neurological conditions. That is why, when PFIZER is specified in a pharmacy or in a prescription list, it refers to the manufacturer of a specific medication rather than a single active substance.
The dosage forms of PFIZER products are highly diverse and depend on the therapeutic field: modified-release and immediate-release tablets and capsules, lyophilized powders for preparing injection solutions, ready-to-use solutions in pre-filled pens and vials, oral suspensions, eye drops, as well as vaccines in multi-dose vials. Each form is designed to ensure predictable bioavailability — that is, the fraction of the active substance that actually enters the bloodstream. For extended-release drugs, matrix or osmotic systems are used, which gradually release the active component over 12–24 hours. These groups reduce the risk of myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke with long-term regular use. The dosage is selected individually based on lipid profile, blood pressure, and renal function indicators.
A significant part of the PFIZER portfolio consists of antimicrobials — semi-synthetic penicillins, cephalosporins, macrolides, oxazolidinones, and systemic antimycotics, which are prescribed for bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, skin, genitourinary system, as well as for fungal infections. A separate niche is occupied by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and agents for the treatment of neuropathic pain, used in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, and diabetic polyneuropathy. In neurology and psychiatry, SSRI antidepressants and drugs for controlling partial epileptic seizures are used.
The third major direction is oncology, immunology, and vaccine prevention. Composition and active components of Pfizer

For example, statins inhibit the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme, which reduces cholesterol synthesis in hepatocytes; calcium antagonists block the entry of Ca²⁺ ions into the smooth muscles of blood vessels, causing vasodilation and a reduction in blood pressure. Beta-lactam antibiotics disrupt bacterial cell wall synthesis, while macrolides block bacterial protein synthesis at the ribosomal level. Biological PFIZER drugs act as selective blockers of cytokines or intracellular inflammatory signaling pathways.
Excipients do not have an independent therapeutic effect, but they critically influence the stability and absorption of the drug. These include microcrystalline cellulose and lactose (fillers), croscarmellose sodium (disintegrant that ensures tablet dissolution), magnesium stearate (lubricant), hypromellose, and titanium dioxide in the coating. In solutions for injection, sodium chloride, phosphate- or tromethamine-based buffer systems, and water for injections are used. Dosage of Pfizer
There is no universal dose for all PFIZER drugs — the regimen is determined by the instructions of the specific medicine and the doctor's decision. For oral forms, adults are usually prescribed a single daily dose in the morning or twice daily with a 12-hour interval; antibacterial courses last from 5 to 14 days, while lipid-lowering and antihypertensive therapy is long-term or lifelong. Titration (gradual dose increase) is used for anticonvulsants, antidepressants, and drugs for neuropathic pain to reduce the risk of adverse events. Dose adjustment is mandatory in renal impairment (based on the calculated glomerular filtration rate), hepatic impairment (according to the Child-Pugh classification), and in elderly individuals due to slowed metabolism. For children, the dose is calculated per kilogram of body weight or body surface area, using suspensions with a measuring syringe. Injectable and infusion forms of PFIZER are administered only by medical personnel with control of the infusion rate. Self-adjustment of the dose, premature discontinuation, or doubling the dose is unacceptable.
How to take Pfizer correctly?
Tablets and capsules are taken whole, without chewing or crushing, with 150–200 ml of still water. In case of a missed dose, it should be taken as soon as remembered, but if less than half of the interval remains until the next scheduled dose, the missed dose is skipped. A double dose to "compensate" is prohibited due to the risk of cumulative toxicity. During the course of treatment, it is recommended to keep a well-being diary and periodically undergo prescribed tests — complete blood count, liver transaminases, creatinine. The individual reaction of the body may differ from that described in the instructions, so any atypical symptoms should be discussed with a doctor.
Side effects of Pfizer
The most common adverse reactions for most oral PFIZER drugs are gastrointestinal in nature: nausea, epigastric discomfort, dyspepsia, flatulence, loose stools, or constipation. Headache, dizziness, drowsiness or, conversely, insomnia, dry mouth, and transient fatigue are also frequently observed. These phenomena are usually mild and decrease during the first or second week of body adaptation. During vaccination, local soreness at the injection site, low-grade fever, and myalgia for 24–48 hours are typical.
Uncommon effects include elevated liver enzymes, skin rash, itching, tachycardia, peripheral edema, and changes in laboratory blood parameters. Rare but potentially dangerous reactions include anaphylaxis, angioedema, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, hepatotoxicity, agranulocytosis, rhabdomyolysis (for statins), and antibiotic-associated colitis. Immediate medical attention is required for: difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, widespread blistering rash, jaundice, dark urine, severe muscle weakness, or unexplained bleeding.
Contraindications of Pfizer
An absolute contraindication for any PFIZER drug is confirmed hypersensitivity to the active substance or excipients, as well as cross-allergy within the pharmacological group. Depending on the drug, contraindications may include active liver disease with elevated transaminases, severe renal impairment, decompensated heart failure, gastrointestinal bleeding, severe rhythm disorders, or active infections for immunosuppressants. Oncological and biological drugs are not prescribed in cases of severe neutropenia and thrombocytopenia. Alcohol is not recommended during the course of treatment: ethanol enhances hepatotoxicity, increases the risk of damage to the gastric mucosa, and potentiates the sedative effect of centrally acting drugs. Agents that cause drowsiness, dizziness, or visual impairment can reduce the speed of psychomotor reactions — at the beginning of therapy, you should avoid driving a car and working with dangerous machinery. The reaction to the drug is individual, so your ability to concentrate should be evaluated during the first days of use.
