What is ELI 20?
ELI 20 is a medicinal product for the symptomatic treatment of erectile dysfunction in adult men. The drug contains tadalafil at a dosage of 20 mg and belongs to the class of phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors, abbreviated as PDE-5. Medications in this group improve blood flow to the tissues of the penis in response to sexual stimulation. Without sexual arousal, ELI 20 does not automatically cause an erection.
The drug is typically available in the form of tablets for oral administration. ELI 20 is positioned as a generic product based on the same active substance that is part of the original drug Cialis. The pharmaceutical company Aurochem is indicated as the manufacturer. The appearance of the tablet, the composition of the coating, and the number of units per pack must be verified by the labeling of the specific batch.
A specific feature of tadalafil is its long duration of action: the effect can last up to 36 hours, although its severity and actual duration are individual. This does not mean a continuous erection, but only the presence of a period during which, with sexual arousal, its occurrence may be facilitated. The drug does not increase libido, does not eliminate the psychological causes of erectile dysfunction, and does not protect against sexually transmitted infections. A consultation with a doctor is required before use, especially in the presence of cardiovascular or urological diseases.
What is ELI 20 prescribed for?
The main indication for ELI 20 is erectile dysfunction, which is the persistent or recurrent inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse. Tadalafil helps to enhance the natural vascular response to sexual arousal. The drug can be used for disorders of vascular, metabolic, psychogenic, or mixed origin after a medical examination. At the same time, it does not eliminate the underlying disease, so it is important to monitor blood pressure, glucose levels, heart condition, and other risk factors.
ELI 20 is used as needed, when a man requires a sufficiently long therapeutic window without strict planning of sexual contact. The 20 mg dose is the maximum standard dose for on-demand use and should not automatically be considered the starting dose. A doctor may recommend a lower dose depending on efficacy, tolerability, and concomitant treatment. Daily use of a 20 mg tablet without a specific prescription is not recommended.
Tadalafil is also used in certain dosages for symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia, but ELI 20 should not be used independently for this purpose. For regular therapy of such a condition, other regimens and lower daily doses are usually considered. The cause of erection problems must be established by a doctor, as they are sometimes an early sign of atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus, or hormonal disorders. Timely diagnosis increases treatment safety and helps to choose the optimal therapy.
Composition and active components of ELI 20
The active component of ELI 20 is tadalafil 20 mg in one tablet. It selectively inhibits the PDE-5 enzyme, which is involved in the breakdown of cyclic guanosine monophosphate in the smooth muscles of blood vessels. As a result, in the presence of nitric oxide released during sexual arousal, the blood vessels of the penis relax, and the blood filling of the cavernous bodies increases. This mechanism helps to achieve and maintain an erection, but does not replace natural sexual stimulation.
Excipients provide the shape, strength, stability, and dissolution of the tablet, but have no independent therapeutic effect. Their exact list may include fillers, binders, disintegrants, lubricants, and coating substances. The composition must be checked in the official instructions and on the packaging of the specific batch, especially in case of allergies or sugar intolerance. Do not take the drug if the packaging is damaged, the labeling is unclear, or the origin of the product cannot be confirmed.
Dosage of ELI 20
The standard starting dose of tadalafil for on-demand use is often 10 mg, and a doctor may recommend 20 mg in case of insufficient efficacy and good tolerability of the lower dose. ELI 20 is taken no more than once a day, approximately 30–60 minutes before the intended sexual activity. Repeated administration within the same day is unacceptable, even if the expected effect was not achieved. Increasing the dose beyond 20 mg does not safely enhance the effect but increases the risk of adverse reactions.
The duration of use is determined individually after assessing the causes of erectile dysfunction and the response to treatment. Tablets of 20 mg are not intended for continuous daily use without a separate decision by a doctor. If the drug is needed frequently, a specialist may consider a daily regimen of tadalafil in a lower dosage. Dividing the tablet on your own is allowed only when it is explicitly provided for by the instructions and its design.
Dose adjustment may be required for people with impaired renal or hepatic function, as well as patients taking medications that alter the concentration of tadalafil in the blood. In case of severe renal or hepatic impairment, the use of 20 mg may be unacceptable. Elderly age itself does not usually require a dose adjustment, but concomitant diseases and polypragmasy increase the risk of interactions. The final regimen must be determined by a doctor after evaluating the patient's general condition.
How to take ELI 20 correctly?
The ELI 20 tablet is swallowed whole with a sufficient amount of water. It can be taken regardless of food, as food does not usually significantly alter the absorption of tadalafil. Sexual arousal is required for the effect to occur, and the onset of action and its strength may vary among different men. Do not evaluate efficacy based on a single episode without considering stress, fatigue, alcohol, and the nature of stimulation.
With an on-demand dosing regimen, the concept of a missed dose does not apply: the tablet is used only before planned sexual activity. Do not take a double dose to compensate for a missed one or an insufficient effect. ELI 20 should not be combined with other tadalafil preparations or products for the treatment of erectile dysfunction without a doctor's permission. Before starting administration, a specialist consultation and an assessment of the safety of sexual activity for the cardiovascular system are mandatory.
Side effects of ELI 20
The most common side effects of tadalafil include headache, facial flushing, nasal congestion, dyspepsia, and heartburn. Pain in the back, muscles, or limbs, dizziness, and a sensation of palpitations are possible. Usually, these events are mild or moderate in nature and resolve on their own. The individual reaction of the body varies, so even a well-known drug can be tolerated differently.
Uncommonly, a decrease in blood pressure, rapid heart rate, nosebleed, nausea, rash, or increased sweating may occur. Rare but dangerous conditions include priapism, which is a painful erection lasting more than four hours, sudden loss of vision or hearing, severe allergic reaction, chest pain, or fainting. In case of such symptoms, it is necessary to immediately stop taking the drug and seek emergency medical assistance. For chest pain, nitrates must not be used on your own, and the healthcare professional should be informed of the time of the last dose of tadalafil.
Contraindications of ELI 20
ELI 20 is contraindicated in case of allergy to tadalafil or any component of the tablet. It must not be combined with organic nitrates, nitric oxide donors, or guanylate cyclase stimulators, as a dangerous drop in blood pressure is possible. The drug is also not used if sexual activity is not recommended due to severe heart disease. Contraindications may include recent myocardial infarction or stroke, unstable angina, uncontrolled blood pressure disorders, and certain cases of vision loss of ischemic origin.
Caution is required in case of anatomical deformation of the penis, sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, leukemia, and other conditions with an increased risk of priapism. Relative limitations include severe liver or kidney disease, peptic ulcer disease, bleeding disorders, and concurrent use of alpha-blockers. The decision on treatment is made after weighing the expected benefit against the risk. If new cardiac symptoms appear, the therapy must be reviewed.
ELI 20 is intended for adult men and is not used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age. The drug is not intended for women, so its use during pregnancy or breastfeeding is not provided for. Elderly men do not usually require an automatic dose adjustment, but it is especially important for them to consider concomitant diseases and the list of all medications. Self-treatment in the presence of chronic pathology can be dangerous.
Interaction of ELI 20 with other drugs and alcohol
The most dangerous interaction is that of ELI 20 with nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, and other nitrates. Riociguat and related guanylate cyclase stimulators are also contraindicated due to the risk of severe hypotension. Alpha-blockers and antihypertensive agents may additionally lower blood pressure, while ketoconazole, ritonavir, clarithromycin, and some other drugs can increase the concentration of tadalafil. Rifampicin and certain anticonvulsants, on the contrary, can weaken the effect, so the doctor must be informed about all prescription and over-the-counter medications.
A significant amount of alcohol increases dizziness, palpitations, and blood pressure reduction, and can also impair erection on its own. During treatment, it is advisable to limit alcohol and not combine the tablet with excessive alcohol consumption. Tadalafil does not usually have a direct sedative effect, but in case of dizziness, visual impairment, or weakness, driving and operating machinery are prohibited. Before such activities, you should be sure of your own individual reaction to the drug.
Where to buy ELI 20 in Ukraine
ELI 20 in Ukraine should be purchased only in licensed pharmacies or verified pharmacy services, where you can confirm the manufacturer Aurochem, the batch, expiration date, and proper supply conditions. Actual availability, registration status, and dispensing rules may change, so they must be clarified before ordering. A suspiciously low price, the absence of Ukrainian labeling, instructions, or batch data may indicate a counterfeit. Remote ordering does not replace a doctor's consultation and is not a basis for independent dose selection.
ELI 20 should be stored in its original packaging, in a dry place protected from light and out of reach of children, at the temperature specified by the manufacturer. During delivery, it is important to avoid overheating, freezing, and damage to the blister. Do not use the tablets after the expiration date or if their appearance has changed. Before taking, you should read the official instructions, check compatibility with current treatment, and consult a doctor.
